Special thanks to the Weaverville Garden Club for inviting me to their monthly club meeting for an instructional centerpiece workshop. These events generally take quite a bit of prep, from coordinating with leaders to harvesting fresh and interesting material to offer participants, but I always walk away from workshops deeply inspired. Participants (being mostly gardeners) brought an assortment of interest from their own personal landscapes and the variety was overwhelming given it is the middle of winter here in WNC. From flowering witch hazel to 'pink dawn' viburnum, local peacock feathers, dried hydrangea and fennel blooms, pods, branches and budding branches, I think we were all surprised by the abundance of seasonal materials available this time of year. Everyone did a beautiful job arranging their centerpiece to take home, and I took away a renewed love for celebrating the local landscape with fellow gardeners.
